Definition of Ductile Iron

Ductile iron, also known as nodular iron, is a type of cast iron. During its production, a small amount of magnesium or cerium is added to the molten iron. This addition causes the graphite in the iron to form spherical nodules rather than the flake - like structure found in gray cast iron.
